Soloists of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will present several significant debut performances to the audience in March.
On March 24, the fan favourite with the Krasnoyarsk public Davit Yesayan will appear on the stage for the first time in the role of Mario Cavaradossi in Giacomo Puccini’s opera Tosca, which is iconic for any tenor. The singer has been working on this part for many years: he often performs two opera hits - Cavaradossi's arias from the first act (the contemplative Recondita Armonia) and the third one (the tragic E Lucevan le Stelle) in concerts; and the audience always rewards him with thunderous applause for his interpretation of these arias. Now, Davit Yesayan is ready to present a well-rounded image of Cavaradossi in the show.
On March 22, Mergen Sandanov, Honoured Artist of Buryatia, will make his debut in the leading male role of the big Russian opera – The Oprichnik by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Mergen will have to not only cope with vocal complexities, but also eloquently depict the mental stir of the young boyar Andrey Morozov who has to make a fatal life choice. Let us remind you that just recently, in February 2024, Mergen Sandanov already added two leading roles in Tchaikovsky’s operas to his repertoire: Vaudemont in Iolanta and Herman in The Queen of Spades.
There are also ballet debuts in March. For the first time, principal dancer Ksenia Krentovskaya will perform the choreographically significant role of Myrta in the ballet Giselle by Adolphe Adam. The performance will take place on March 27. Saturday evening on March 16 will be a special one for the young dancer who joined the ballet company of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre only in the current 46th season: Ruslan Abolmasov makes his debut as Sisyphus in the ballet Dante's Catharsis choreographed to the music of contemporary composers.
