The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre’s soloist, Honoured Artist of Buryatia Mikhail Pirogov will take part in the 6th Lhasaran Linkhovoin Opera Festival, which is to be held in Ulan-Ude between September 15 and 22.

Mikhail Pirogov will take the stage of the Buryat Opera and Ballet Theatre twice: September 17th -  Carmen by Georges Bizet (the part of Don José), September 19th - Un Ballo in Maschera by Giuseppe Verdi (the part of King Gustavo). His stage companions will be Russian opera stars, the soloists of the Mariinsky Theater Julia Matochkina (Carmen) and Vladislav Sulimsky (Count Anckarström). The festival programme will also include Verdi's Rigoletto, Puccini’s Tosca and a gala night.

The Lhasaran Linkhovoin Opera Festival has been held on the stage of the Buryat Opera and Ballet Theatre since 1990. The year of 2019 is declared the year of a theatre in Russia; and the Festival this year will be dedicated to the 95th anniversary of an outstanding opera singer Lhasaran Linkhovoin, whose name is closely connected with the establishing and heyday of the Buryat opera art. The artistic director of the festival will be Lhasaran Lodonovich’s daughter, People's Artist of Russia Darima Linkhovoin. 

“The festival is a significant event in the cultural life of Buryatia, so, having received the invitation, I surely took it up at once. I already took part in this festival in 2013, being the principal singer of the Saratov Theatre, I sang the part of Vladimir Igorevich in the Borodin’s opera Prince Igor. I’m well-known to all Krasnoyarsk opera lovers as a performer of the Don José’s part. Un Ballo in Maschera isn’t performed in our theatre - I have many a time appeared on the stage of the Buryat Opera and Ballet Theatre in this performance, I have been on tour in Moscow and Vladivostok with this show”, said Mikhail Pirogov.
