New ballet season to open with a grand Gala Show

The upcoming ballet season at the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will begin with a spectacular Ballet Gala concert, taking place on September 13 and 14. The programme will feature both classical and contemporary works performed by the theatre’s leading stars as well as rising talents. Tickets are already on sale.

This gala will serve as a creative showcase—a tribute to the standout productions of the past season and a preview of exciting premieres and special events to come. Many pieces included in the programme will be performed for the first time.

Audiences can look forward to excerpts from beloved ballets such as Spartacus by Yuri Grigorovich, The Nutcracker by Vasili Vainonen, Anyuta by Vladimir Vasiliev, and rarely seen works like Don Quixote, Hussar Ballad, and scenes from The Flames of Paris, which until now have been shown only in fragments. A particularly anticipated highlight will be a performance of scenes from Swan Lake in the classical choreography by Marius Petipa, danced by rising star Anastasia Svetlishina and principal dancer Matvey Nikishayev.

The gala will also pay tribute to the legendary ballerina Maya Plisetskaya, whose centenary is being celebrated in 2025.

Audiences will have the chance to enjoy performances by Krasnoyarsk ballet’s brightest stars—Ksenia Krentovskaya, Elena Mikheecheva, and Georgy Bolsunovsky—as well as the acclaimed principal duo Anna and Yuri Kudryavtsev. Another special moment will be Honoured Artist of Russia Maria Kuimova-Litvinenko returning to the stage, who will perform Tango to the music of Astor Piazzolla alongside Kirill Litvinenko. The concert will also introduce promising young talents to the audience, such as Valeria Yermakova, Rino Fukuoka, Ruslan Abolmasov, Grigory Botenkov, and others.

Tickets for Ballet Gala are available at the theatre box office (open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM), on the official website Krasopera.ru, and via local ticketing platforms.
