New specialists joined the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre’s team

During the quarantine in the summer, performances of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre were cancelled but the theatre kept on recruiting the staff. As a result, 14 new employees joined its creative team.

The new conductor of the theatre Ivan Velikanov is already well known to the Krasnoyarsk audience. He conducted Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's The Snow Maiden during the Stars Parade at the Opera Festival as a guest conductor in 2018. In February 2020, Ivan took part in the Young Conductors project and presented his versions of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's ballet Swan Lake and Giacomo Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly. As a full-time staff member, Ivan made his debut on September 6 and 7: he conducted the world premiere of the story of courage, the music diptych The Leningrad Symphony based on the music by Alexei Syumak and Dmitri Shostakovich.

The audience got also acquainted with the works of the new theatre’s production director Yelizaveta Korneeva who won the 2nd prize at the 4th International Competition for Young Opera Directors Nano-Opera (2019). She has created the following productions: the operas Marevo (The Haze) by Kirill Shirokov and Mark Buloshnikov, Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo, the Theatre Night “Beyond the Square”. Now Yelizaveta is working on Giuseppe Verdi's opera Rigoletto: the premiere in a semi-stage format is scheduled for October 2020.

The young baritone Denis Grechishkin has already performed several roles at the theatre: in the operas Yermak, Pagliacci, and the immersive performance Hvorostovsky. Homecoming.

There are some completely new arrivals in the Krasnoyarsk Opera House. For the first time, the principal choreographer was invited to the team: an artist of the Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre, choreographer, tutor Vitaly Breusenko. A new ballet tutor and choreographer Anastasia Prokofieva (Vitaly Breusenko's colleague) and ballet accompanier Gleb Shipilov-Byagi are also going to work in Krasnoyarsk. A whole bunch of young dancers will join the ballet company: Victoria Sandyu, Anna Shamanova, Anastasia Krasotina, Yulia Lyakhovykh, Tatyana Erchenko, Philip Arzhanov, Mikhail Volik. A new violinist is going to join the orchestra - Alexander Tarasov.
