Mikhail Shvydkoi, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation, announced that the Bilateral Year of Knowledge Diplomacy will be held in Russia and the UK in 2022.
The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre participates in the event, presenting its educational project while on tour in England. The dancers of the ballet company decided to celebrate International Women's Day in an unusual way: Principal dancers Elena Svinko and Marcello Pelizzoni will hold a meeting with students of the Bournemouth Collegiate School (Dorset, England) and give them a masterclass on March 8 at 11 a.m.
It’s not the first time that Krasnoyarsk artists have met with foreign students studying the basics of the art of ballet. On the eve of the masterclass, students will see The Nutcracker ballet at the Bournemouth Pavilion. Artistic Director of the Hvorostovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre Sergei Bobrov commented on the tour of the Theatre to the English mass media: “It is a pleasure to present the unique traditions of Russian ballet to the British audience. Touring the UK with a troupe of dancers as well as highly trained musicians is always exciting”.
