Traditionally, the December playbill of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is filled mainly with festive ballet performances and concerts. Still, two operas will also be performed this December: real masterpieces of Russian music art presenting some debut performances.
In Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's opera The Tsar's Bride, mezzo-soprano singer Elena Nikutina will debut in the part of Dunyasha (a friend of the leading character Marfa) on December 14. Elena only joined the opera company of our theatre in the current 47th season. She’ll perform the part of Dunyasha in the following performance, as well - on December 15.
Alexander Borodin's opera Prince Igor is performed on the twenty-something of December every year because this production opened the very first season of the Theatre on December 20, 1978. On December 21, 2024, Aliona Zafran will perform the leading female part of the opera - Yaroslavna - for the first time. Vladimir Lebedev will sing the ambiguous but vivid character Prince Galitsky for the first time.
On December 20, young artists of the ballet company Nadezhda Vagal, Anastasia Svetlishina, Yelizaveta Boyarskaya, Daria Saleeva, Kirill Teriokhin, Dmitri Tyulmenkov, Dmitri Korabanko, Artiom Mazunin will debut in the large-scale choreographic piece of this opera, Polovtsian Dances, so beloved by the public.
Let us remind you that the guest artist, soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Ksenia Dudnikova will take the Krasnoyarsk stage for the first time in the role of Konchakovna in Prince Igor on December 21.
