Among the guest artists at the 15th international festival Star Parade at the Opera. Slovtsov is a tenor singer and conductor Dmitri Korchak. He will showcase both sides of his artistry in two productions on the stage of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre: singing Lensky in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and taking the stand as conductor for Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
Korchak is known for his interpretations of Russian lyric repertoire and bel canto opera. He received dual musical training at the Popov Academy of Choral Art, majoring in both vocal performance and conducting. His international breakthrough came after standout appearances at the prestigious Glinka, Viñas, and Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competitions.
Since then, Korchak has appeared on the world’s leading opera stages and at major festivals, including La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, and Covent Garden, as well as many other top venues across Europe and the Americas. He has collaborated with many of today’s most renowned conductors, among them Valery Gergiev, Yuri Temirkanov, Mikhail Pletnev, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren, Daniel Barenboim, Michel Plasson, Riccardo Chailly, and others.
Since 2015, he has been actively developing his career as a conductor, appearing at festivals and concert halls across Europe. He has served as principal guest conductor of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre and as a guest conductor at the Mikhailovsky Theatre. Alongside his own performing career, Dmitri Korchak is deeply committed to nurturing young talent. He founded the Popov Prize for students of the Academy of Choral Art and initiated—and now serves as artistic director of—the Young Opera School, created in partnership with the Elena Obraztsova Foundation.
