Sergei Bobrov is a member of the Jury of the Russian Ballet Competition

On November 25-30, the Natalya Sats Musical Theatre hosts the Russian Competition of Ballet Artists and Choreographers established by the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The artistic director of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Sergei Bobrov traditionally became a member of its Jury.

The competition appeared in 2013 upon an initiative of the outstanding figure of the Russian ballet art Yuri Grigorovich and is being held for four years. Its main goals are to identify young promising performers and choreographers, improve the professional skills of ballet dancers, prepare new young personnel for Russian theatres, as well as to create new outstanding works of modern choreography and search for extraordinary ways in the development of classical, folk-stage and contemporary dance.

The competition lasts 4 year - every year of the four-year cycle is dedicated to a different speciality of ballet dancing: choreography, character and folk dance, modern dance in a musical theatre and ballet dancers. The last year is a qualifying part of the International Competition of Ballet Artists and Choreographers.


 In 2018, the new four-year cycle of the competition starts and is dedicated to the speciality of choreographers. Students of specialized choreographic educational institutions of Russia and professional choreographers who have Russian citizenship can take part in it. All contestants must be of age between 18 to 45 years old.

Russian Competition of Ballet Artists and Choreographers Jury traditionally includes reputable Russian choreographers, principal dancers, teachers, theatre directors, and prominent people of the ballet art. The President of the Jury is Yuri Nikolaevich Grigorovich, People's Artist of the USSR. The Artistic Director of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Sergei Bobrov, a member of the jury since 2013, said that he always participates in this difficult work with great interest: “At such competitions, the main tendencies and trends of modern Russian choreography are detected.”
