The Artistic Director of the Hvorostovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre, Honoured Artist of Russia Sergei Bobrov will take part in the gala night dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the People's Artist of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky.
On November 17, Sergei Bobrov will perform the part of Sergei Diaghilev in the ballet Nijinsky based on music by Sergei Rachmaninoff and directed by Mikhail Lavrovsky.
“Long years of mutual work make a bond between me and Mikhail Leonidovich Lavrovsky. The ballet class of the Bolshoi Theatre, when we were performers: we both still danced; and also my participation in the Lavrovsky's ballet film Day-Dreamer based on Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin: I took part in filming it and even staged a dance piece there. There, our collaboration and our joint creative pursuit began. I always keep track of his works, he keeps track of mine, we always communicate and support each other very much. And it was Mikhail Leonidovich who asked me to perform the role of Diaghilev in Krasnoyarsk. Of course, taking the stage is exciting for me now (I nearly always get excited before performing), and it's great and honourable for me; I will be very happy to dance the role of Diaghilev in the ballet Nijinsky at Mikhail Lavrovsky's anniversary night.” said Sergei Rudolfovich Bobrov.
The one-act ballet Nijinsky is one of the most spectacular achievements of modern choreography. This is a plastique depiction of the dramatic relationship between the famous dancer Vaslav Nijinsky, his wife Romola Nijinsky (Pulskaya), and his patron Sergei Diaghilev. The ballet will be introduced in the second part of Mikhail Lavrovsky's anniversary night.
