The legendary ballet dancer, choreographer, People's Artist of the USSR, winner of the Lenin and State Prizes of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky will celebrate his 80th birthday in Krasnoyarsk.

The first festive event will be a meet-the-artist session at the Krasnoyarsk Choreography School on November 15 at 16:00. The guests of the session will be teachers and students of the educational institution. They will watch the film Mikhail Lavrovsky. To be continued ..., in which the artist talks about his childhood, school years, his career at the Bolshoi Theatre of the USSR, about the choreographers of the ballets he took part in. The film was shot at the commission of the Kultura TV channel by producer Natalia Ivanova who will also attend the meeting and present her work.

There will also be face-to-face communication with Mikhail Lavrovsky. Mikhail Leonidovich's son Leonid Lavrovsky-Garcia and Mikhail Leonidovich's friend, ex-Minister of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region Gennady Ruksha will also participate in the conversation.

On November 17, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre at the anniversary gala night of Mikhail Lavrovsky. At the anniversary concert, Krasnoyarsk residents will see excerpts from his ballet productions: Amok by Alexander Simonenko, Two Women by Sergei Banevich, the one-act ballet Nijinsky to music by Sergei Rachmaninoff (with the participation of ex-soloists of the Bolshoi Theater, People's Artist of Russia Maria Alexandrova, Honoured Artist of Russia Marianna Ryzhkina, soloists of the Bolshoi, Honoured Artist of Russia Vladislav Lantratov, Victoria Litvinova, Artur Mkrtchyan, Eugeny Golovin, and principal dancers of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre).

On November 18, a gala concert of soloists and ballet dancers of the Krasnoyarsk theatre will take place: it’ll present the one-act ballet Nijinsky to the audience, as well as a whole bunch of pieces from the ballet performances of the theatre's repertoire. Among them, there’ll be the pas de deux and the Spanish dance from the spectacular November premiere of the ballet Catarina ou La Fille du Bandit by Cesare Pugni.

Celebrating the birthday of People's Artist of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky will be a ballet gala day for Krasnoyarsk residents.
