The Artistic Director of the Hvorostovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre, Honoured Artist of Russia Sergei Bobrov became a member of the jury of the 5th International Young Opera Directors Competition Nano-Opera.
This is the first competition for young opera directors in the world and is held by the Moscow Music Theatre Helikon-Opera under the direction of Dmitri Bertman and supported by the Moscow Government and the Department of Culture of the City of Moscow. The Nano-Opera competition will be held in Moscow between 22 and 28 May 2022. Sergei Bobrov has repeatedly taken part in the work of the competition jury - in 2015, 2017, and 2019.
The Jury of the Nano-Opera Competition traditionally includes managers of the best world theatres. Young directors have a real opportunity to get employed whilу taking part in the competition. So, according to the results of the previous, 4th competition (2019), Sergei Bobrov’s invitation to work at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre was received by Elizaveta Korneeva, winner of the 2nd prize. In 2017, Daniil Dmitriev took 2nd place in the Nano-Opera and accepted a special prize - his own opera show in the Krasnoyarsk Opera House. Nowadays, he works at our theatre as a director.
“Such events are crucial for the development of opera art in general - screening theatre directors is the important part of this competition, the most gifted and promising Russian theatre specialists come to light,” commented Sergei Bobrov.
The Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre maintains a close association with the Nano-Opera competition. Competition laureates Alexei Frandetti and Elizaveta Moroz directed productions for the Theatre. Sergei Novikov, Head of the Presidential Department for Public Projects (also a laureate of the Nano-Opera competition) staged Leo Delibes' opera Lakme, the premiere of it takes place on March 1, 2, 3, and 4, 2022.
