Opera debuts in March, 2022

Artists of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre continue to rehearse new parts: the audience will be presented with several debut performances in two operas in March.

Giuseppe Verdi's opera Un Ballo in Maschera staged by Anastasia Kasatkina premiered two years ago, in March 2020. Then, the pandemic prevented this spectacular performance from reappearing on the stage of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. The director, soloists, and choir had to seriously work on restoring the production. However, four artists will take the stage in this opera for the first time on March 12. Vasily Korsar will make his debut in the leading male part - Earl Riccardo, Sergei Telenkov - the sailor Silvano, basses Ilya Markov and Sergei Samusev - villainous conspirators Tom and Samuel.

Several debut performances will also be presented in Ruggero Leoncavallo's opera Pagliacci on 18 and 19 March. On the 19th of March, Honoured Artist of Russia Svetlana Ratslaf-Levchuk and Davit Esayan will introduce their interpretations of the leading parts of Nedda and Canio. Eugeny Baldanov will sing Beppe-Harlequin for the first time on March 18, Edward Arutyunyan - on March 19.

We add that in the ballet opera Carmen to the music of Georges Bizet, the debutants of February will again come to the stage on March 16: Karina Radzion (as Carmen), Vasily Korsar (as Don José), and Anna Avakyan (as Micaela).
