Sergei Kuzmin to perform the leading part of the Oprichnik opera

Instead of the previously announced soloist of the St. Petersburg Mikhailovsky Theatre Ivan Gyngazov, Sergei Kuzmin will sing on the stage of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. He will perform the role of Andrei Morozov in the premiere of the Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Oprichnik.

This gifted soloist is already familiar to Krasnoyarsk opera fans as he performed the role of Gerald in the premiere of the Leo Delibes' opera Lakme in March 2022, which became one of the main events of the 44th season. Sergei Kuzmin also performed this role during the tour of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia in Moscow in July and August 2022.

Sergei Kuzmin has been a soloist of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre since 2012; since 2018, he has been a guest soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre, where he sings the part of Andrei Morozov in Oprichnik. The singer currently performs the leading tenor parts in the operas by Mozart, Verdi, Donizetti, Rossini. and Tchaikovsky. Sergei Kuzmin participated in the sixth season of Big Opera - the TV show of the Kultura channel.

May we remind that the premiere performances of the rarely performed Oprichnik opera by Pyotr Tchaikovsky will take place on the stage of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera House on January 21 and 22, 2023.
