Sevastian Martyniuk awarded at prestigious international competition

Baritone singer Sevastian Martyniuk, a soloist with the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, has won Second Prize at the 13th Bibigul Tulegenova International Vocal Competition.

Held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the event brought together more than 50 singers from Kazakhstan, Armenia, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Italy. The performances were judged by an international panel of renowned vocal masters, chaired by Bibigul Tulegenova – People’s Artist of the USSR and Kazakhstan, Hero of Socialist Labour, laureate of state prizes of both the USSR and Kazakhstan, and an academician.

The competition was held in two rounds with piano accompaniment. In the first round, Martyniuk performed the Count’s aria from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. In the second one, he impressed the jury with a moving rendition of Rodrigo’s death scene from Don Carlo by Verdi.

Krasnoyarsk audiences will soon hear Sevastian Martyniuk on stage in upcoming performances:

8 October – Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Figaro);

16 October – Frenkel’s Without A Dowry (Paratov);

19 October – Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta (Robert).
