Sevastian Martyniuk took part in the production of Iolanta at the Helikon theatre
Soloist of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Sevastian Martyniuk made his debut on the stage of the Moscow music theatre Helikon-Opera in Pyotr Tchaikovsky's opera Iolanta.
The Krasnoyarsk singer performed the role of Duke Robert. It’s worth mentioning that Dmitri Hvorostovsky previously shone in this role.
“I thank Sergei Gennadyevich Novikov (production director of this show) and all the management of the theatre for the opportunity and warm, reverent welcome. Great theatre, close-knit team, excellent acoustics, very kind audience: it was a pleasure to work there!” Sevastian Martyniuk shared his impressions.
We add that several artists also familiar to the Krasnoyarsk audience participated in the Moscow production of Iolanta. This, of course, is director Sergei Novikov, whose two productions premiered at the Krasnoyarsk Opera House in January: Pyotr Tchaikovsky's opera Oprichnik and Jacques Offenbach's opera bouffe Barbe-Bleue. Along with Sevastian, Yulia Nikanorova and Anna Grechishkina appeared on the stage of the Helikon Opera in Iolanta (the former sang the part of the Boyaryna Morozova in the Krasnoyarsk production of Oprichnik, the latter performed Lakme in the Krasnoyarsk version of the eponymous opera by Leo Delibes directed also by Sergei Novikov).
Iolanta by Pyotr Tchaikovsky will be performed on the stage of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre quite soon - on the 25th of February. Anna Avakyan will perform the title role.
