They were created by composers who are leaders of the contemporary composers’ community in Russia and introduced to spectators not on the main stage of the theatre but the new stylish art platform of the city - the loft Quadrat that used to be an old factory, now gentrified. The premieres of the "apocalyptic thriller" Marevo (Haze) staged by Elizaveta Korneeva took place on October 31, 2019; Feast in Time of Plague" based on the eponymous tragedy by Pushkin (directed by Elena Pavlova) - on November 2, 2019; Night at the Museum (chamber opera for four singers based on Mozart's sonatas staged by Elizabeth Moroz) –on 14 February 2020.
The project Art at the Quadrat was launched in the spring of 2019; the first show of it was the funny frivolous opera Les Mamelles de Tirésias by Francis Poulenc to the new libretto by Alexei Bobrov, staged by Sergei Bobrov. A few days ago, this very performance received the special music theatre jury award Golden Mask 2020 “For a new look at the opera genre in a new theatrical space”.
