Svetlana Cheremnova is an international competition awardee

The soloist of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Svetlana Cheremnova became a laureate of the 2nd degree at the international competition-festival Stars of Russia in the nominated category Academic Vocal. She also received the Special Jury Prize for Professionalism.

The event was held  in Krasnoyarsk in March 2023 as part of the joint Russian-Chinese competition Soaring Phoenix. According to the terms of the competition, the category Academic Vocal had the following requirements: one competitive piece that shouldn’t exceed four minutes, or two competitive pieces that shouldn’t exceed six minutes. In order to better present her vocal abilities to the jury, Svetlana Cheremnova chose two diverse works: Kuma's arioso from Pyotr Tchaikovsky's opera The Enchantress and Sergei Rachmaninoff's romance song to the Alexander Pushkin's poem Arion.

“Taking part in the competition provides an opportunity to test your professional skills, the ability to perform a work in such a way that the technique maximally helps express the artistic, semantic, emotional tasks assigned by the composer. The competition helps understand what level of performance you are at now and whether you are moving in the right direction,” commented Svetlana Cheremnova.

In addition to vocal nominations (academic, pop, jazz, folk, folk-styled vocals, and choral singing), the competition included 13 more categories in various creative fields including fine arts, theatre, choreography, cinema, literature, instrumental performance, etc. The jury comprised artists and teachers of specialized art trends.

The competition-festival Stars of Russia was held with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Irkutsk Region, the Ministry of Culture of the Irkutsk Region, and with the organizational participation of the Palace of Culture Sverdlovsky in Krasnoyarsk. Among the organizers of the event is the Palace of Children's Art Daxing (Beijing).
