The Blue Bird to the music of the Krasnoyarsk composer will be performed in December

The Children's Opera Studio of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and BalletTheatre will introduce a new premiere show to the audience on December 12 - The Blue Bird based on the philosophical tale of the Belgian writer Maurice Maeterlinck. The music for the show was written by the Krasnoyarsk composer Eugenia Teryokhina.

Eugenia was born in Kazakhstan and moved to Krasnoyarsk more than ten years ago.She composed music design for many productions of the Krasnoyarsk Youth Theatre, Pushkin Drama Theatre, and Krasnoyarsk Puppet Theatre. In Moscow, Eugenia's melodies are performed at the Taganka Theatre; she is writing music for the premiere of the Autumn Sonata show at the Vakhtangov Theatre this season. The Blue Bird is the first experience of cooperation between the composer and The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and BalletTheatre.

“Four years ago, I wrote this musical for a theatre from Barnaul,” says Eugenia Teryokhina.“My work stirred up interest with the Krasnoyarsk director Vyacheslav Tsyupa, and I gladly gave him the rights to stage it.Vyacheslav Olegovich offered his libretto, and I wonder now what his team will make: despite the fact that I did not change anything in my music except for the tonality of some pieces (at the request of the directors), in fact, it will be a completely different work.”

What is the Blue Bird?As the composer says, it is not necessarily an object:

“This is, perhaps, a symbol of hope, the acquisition of something bright and good - in fact, life itself. When such a Blue Bird appears in our souls, we seem to come to life, gain some kind of hope for the best.If we translate these allegories into the language of the materialistic world: probably, when the Blue Bird appears in our life, we become more attentive to the nearest and dearest, to the world around us.

The premiere performances of The Blue Bird will take place at the theatre on December 12, 18, and 30, as well as during the New Year holidays - January 4, 5, and 6.
