The Christmas of Old Europe concert online!

The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre prepared a unique gift for fans of old music. Those who did not manage to purchase tickets for the Christmas of Old Europe concert will be able to watch the live broadcast of this event on the Internet.

This is the first time such a concert of Renaissance and Baroque composers works conducted by maestro Ivan Velikanov will take place in Krasnoyarsk. It’ll be a musical journey through the Christmas holidays in Spain, England, Germany, France, Italy of the times of Columbus, Luther, Queen Margot, Galileo Galilei, Shakespeare. There were so many people wishing to set out on such a journey that the management of the theatre decided to broadcast the concert online; thus, the Christmas of Old Europe will be available not only to theatre’s guests but also to all music admirers.

To celebrate the Catholic Christmas Eve in such a worthy way, you need to visit You-Tube-channel of the theatre or its website on December 24 at 7:00 p.m.

The concert’s program includes works by composers of the 16th-18th centuries; among them are both well-known names (Georg Friedrich Handel and Johann Sebastian Bach) and less famous ones, whose works some spectators will hear for the first time: Thomas Ravenscroft, Henry Purcell, Claudio Monteverdi, Heinrich Schütz. Anonymous music will be performed as well: the names of its authors have been lost in the mists of time.
