On December 21, the winners of the Theatre Spring festival were announced. The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre received five Crystal Masks awards at once.
These are the following categories:
1. Best Director of a Music Theatre Performance - Sergei Bobrov, opera Les Mamelles de Tirésias by Francis Poulenc.
2. Best Actor in an Opera Performance - Alexei Bocharov for the part of Yermak in the opera Yermak by Alexander Tchaikovsky.
3. Best Actress in an Opera Performance - Olga Basova for the part of Louise / Mary in the opera Feast in Time of Plague by Alexander Manotskov.
4.
Best Conductor of a Music Theatre - Pyotr Kazimir, opera Feast in Time of Plague by Alexander Manotskov.
5. Best Production Designer of a Music Theatre - Ksenia Shachneva, opera Feast in Time of Plague by Alexander Manotskov.
These are winners of the festival’s nominee diplomas:
1. The opera Yermak by Alexander Tchaikovsky. The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre (Best Premiere of the Season in a Music Theatre); Georgy Isaakyan (Best Director of a Music Theatre Performance); Valery Platonov (Best Conductor in a Music Theatre Performance).
2. The opera-buff Les Mamelles de Tirésias by Francis Poulenc: Inna Spodina (Best Actress in an Opera Performance for the part of Tirésias); Oleg Alekseev (Best Actor in an Opera Performance for the part of Zanzibar Mine supervisor)
3. The Aleksei Syumak’s immersive performance of Hvorostovsky. Homecoming: Fyodor Lednev (Best Conductor of a Music Theatre Performance); Ksenia Sorokina (Best Production Designer of a Music Theatre Performance).
The Theatre Spring Festival is held annually in March; its winners are usually announced on March 27 - International Theatre Day. However, they were announced in December this year because of the pandemic situation. In 2020, Artistic Director of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Sergei Bobrov and principal mezzo-soprano singer Olga Basova received Crystal Masks award for the second straight year.
