The Gorky Moscow Art Theatre will tour in Krasnoyarsk

The Gorky Moscow Art Theatre (MHAT) will introduce their production on the stage of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. The start of ticket sales is scheduled for April 29. The show Yesenin’s Women will be performed within the federal project Big Tours supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Rosconcert; the general media partner is the Russian News Agency TASS.

Tickets can be purchased on the Krasopera.ru website and ticket operator platforms, as well as in the Krasnoyarsk Theatre box office starting from April 29.

On July 10, 11, and 12, the Gorky Moscow Art Theatre will introduce the production Yesenin’s Women to the Krasnoyarsk spectators. The emphasis in the show shifts towards the poet's mother - a sophisticated, intelligent woman. The long separation from her had a huge impact on Yesenin and his relationships with women. He was always on the move, searching. This circle of life is emphasized by a constantly rotating stage. During the show, the main ladies of the poet's life appear on the stage: lovers and wives, Anna Izryadnova, Zinaida Reich, Isadora Duncan, Galina Benislavskaya, Sophia Tolstaya.

“Yes, the story turned out to be sad, not for the younger schoolchildren. As they said in one discussion: “Yesenin was the sunny boy of our poetry! How can you imagine him like this!” ... I wrote a play based on a book by Zakhar Prilepin who described nearly every day of the poet in it. This is a colossal work; it’s done with great love, no matter what they say. And if the image of Yesenin is not always favourable, it’s not the fault of the author - it’s the fault of the one who reads, because the author certainly justifies the poet. The main message of the book is that poetry redeems everything,” says playwright Elena Isaeva, author of the dramatization.

It’s worth reminding you that the project Big Tours implies creative interaction between theatrical companies: a touring exchange of productions that unites the cultural spaces of Russia into a whole. In July, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will make a return visit to Moscow within the Big Tour project: on the stage of the Helikon Theatre, it’ll present Alexander Tchaikovsky’s opera Yermak, Jacques Offenbach’s opera bouffe Barbe-Bleue, and Dante’s Catharsis, a ballet to the music of contemporary composers.
