The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet is going to hold Concerto Grande March on 18: this gala concert will close the Italian music festival Bel Canto in Siberia. Guest singers and a conductor will take part in the concert.
The Bel Canto in Siberia project’s shows were conducted by maestros from Italy: On February 14th, Jacopo Sipari di Pescasseroli conducted Aida; Il Trovatore was conducted by Valerie Simone on February 27; Madame Butterfly - by Lorenzo Bizzarri on March 6. On March 13, Un Ballo in Maschera will be conducted by Alexei Nikonov, Italian conductor of Russian ancestry. He will take to the conductor's stand as well on March 18.
The Grande Concerto programme includes melodies known and loved by theatre fans all over the world: arias and orchestral excerpts from the operas by Giuseppe Verdi (La Forza del Destino, Rigoletto, Don Carlo, Attila, Il Trovatore, Il Corsaro, Un Ballo in Maschera), Giacomo Puccini (La Bohème, Gianni Schicchi), Gaetano Donizetti (Don Pasquale, L'Elisir d'Amore), Gioacchino Rossini (The Barber of Seville), Pietro Mascagni (Cavalleria Rusticana).
Young vocal stars are going to participate in the concert; they’re finalists of the 9th International Opera Singing Competition Golden Willow 2019 (Salice d’Oro) that was held between August 30 and September 1 in Italy, at the Teatro Coccia of the city of Novara. Our theatre was one of the partners of the competition, and it established a prestigious award for the competition’s finalists - a concert in Krasnoyarsk.
This award was received by young sopranos Larissa Alice Vissel and Caterina Meldolesi from Italy (these singers won as well the first and the second prizes of the competition), as well as Nina Solodovnikova (she was born in Russia, but now lives and studies in Italy). Previously, Chinese artist Qianming Dou was expected to perform in Krasnoyarsk, but the trip was cancelled due to quarantine related to the coronavirus pandemic.
