The Ingosstrakh presents stars of the Bolshoi Theatre

The insurance company Ingosstrakh and the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre offer a gift to Krasnoyarsk dance fans. On July 1, the Bolshoi Theatre dancers Alyona Kovalyova and Denis Rodkin will take part in the ballet Raymonda by Alexander Glazunov.

Principal dancer Alyona Kovalyova has been performing the title role in Raymonda at the Bolshoi Theater since 2018. In 2016, Alyona graduated from the Vaganova St. Petersburg Academy of Russian Ballet with honours; the same year she was accepted into the ballet company of the largest theatre in Russia.

She has performed about 30 leading roles in performances of classical and modern choreography. Alyona was the first at the Bolshoi Theatre to perform the role of Ballerina in Gaîté Parisienne by Jacques Offenbach and Manuel Rosenthal, choreographed by Maurice Béjart; she has participated in several world ballet premieres. In 2020, Alyona Kovalyova was awarded the Leonid Myassin Prize in the category Dancer of the Year Appearing on the International Stage.

The bright and technical artist of the Bolshoi Theatre Denis Rodkin first appeared in Raymonda in the crowd scene of the Grand Pas in 2010 after graduating from the choreographic school of the Moscow State Academic Dance Theatre Gzhel in 2009. And already in 2014, the artist performed the leading male role in this ballet - the knight Jean de Brienne.

Denis's repertoire includes more than 50 parts in classical and contemporary ballets. He was the first in the Bolshoi Theatre to perform the part of Vronsky (Anna Karenina to music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Alfred Schnittke, Cat Stevens / Yusuf Islam, choreography by John Neumeier).

Denis Rodkin was named the best dancer of 2016 by the Italian magazine Danza and Danza; he was awarded the prize of the International Association of Choreographers Benois de la Dansе for his performance of the part of Solor in La Bayadère; in 2018, he received the Russian President's Prize for young cultural workers. Both artists are laureates of the prestigious Soul of Dance award established by the magazine Ballet (the nominated category Rising Star).

The premiere of the ballet Raymonda took place at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre in 2018 as part of the 5th Krasnoyarsk International Forum Ballet XXI Century. A tour of the stars of the Bolshoi Theatre is a strong reason to visit this masterpiece of Russian choreography.
