The jury of the Golden Mask Festival will come to Krasnoyarsk to see Les Mamelles de Tirésias

On October 3, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet will present the comic opera Les Mamelles de Tirésias by Francis Poulenc that takes part in the competition for the National Theatre Award Golden Mask. Nine members of the jury will arrive in Krasnoyarsk to watch the show.

These are well-known figures of the Russian music theatre art. The chairman of the jury is Yulia Bederova, music expert, critic, journalist, curator of labs and educational courses on drama criticism. The Krasnoyarsk performance will be judged by musicologists, music theatre and ballet critics, editors and authors of specialized media: Larisa Barykina (Yekaterinburg), Yekaterina Belyaeva (Moscow), Irina Yaskevich (Novosibirsk). The jury consists of the Golden Mask awardees: choreographer Vladimir Varnava (St. Petersburg), choreographer and ballet dancer of the Bolshoi Theatre Ian Godovsky (Moscow), chief conductor of the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre Artiom Makarov (Ufa), as well as music theatre executive director, director of the CoOperatsia laboratory Yekaterina Vasilieva (Moscow), and choreographer and performer Olga Tsvetkova (Moscow).

It’s worth reminding that the National Theatre Award Golden Mask 2020 resumed the competition programme that was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic; some of the programme’s shows were presented to spectators and experts at the theatres of their premieres. The production of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Les Mamelles de Tirésias is among them.

The premiere of Poulenc's opera is part of the Art at the Quadrat project; it was nominated for the Golden Mask in four categories: Best Performance, Best Conductor (the Principal Conductor and Art Director of the Krasnoyarsk Academic Symphony Orchestra Vladimir Lande), Best Director (Art Director of the theatre, Honoured Artist of Russia Sergei Bobrov), Best Female Part (winner of international competitions, mezzo-soprano Daria Ryabinko).

The comic opera will be performed at the Quadrat loft in Krasnoyarsk on October 2, 3 and 4.
