On May 24, the closing ceremony of the 29th Spring Choirs Festival will traditionally take place on the stage of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. Principal Conductor of the Theatre Dmitri Khodosh will conduct the concert.
The concert will comprise two large-scale, diverse parts. The first part will be dedicated to Slavonic Literature and Culture Day (which is celebrated on May 24) and feature the best choral pieces of Russian operas (Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin, The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Aleko by Sergei Rachmaninoff, The Tsar's Bride by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, etc.).
In the second part of the concert, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a combined children's choir consisting of 20 teams will take the stage. Among them are the choir of the Ivanov-Radkevich Krasnoyarsk College of Arts, children's choir Kamerton, the choir of the Creative Development Centre of the Central District of Krasnoyarsk, spiritual choir Sofia, and choral groups of Krasnoyarsk schools of arts, as well as the children's contemporary art theatre Etti Detti. Ten war songs (including Sacred War, Katyusha, Smuglyanka, Cranes, Victory Day, and others) will be performed by young singers accompanied by the orchestra of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The children's choir will consist of about 500 people, the adult choir - about 150 people.
