In May 2025, several promising young singers from the opera company of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will make their debuts in opera productions. Though new to the theatre, they have already caught the attention of audiences.
On May 11, Anatoly Badaev will make his debut as Nilakantha, the stern Indian priest and father of the title character in Léo Delibes’ Lakmé. A charismatic bass, Badaev previously gave a striking performance as Dr. Bartolo in Gioachino Rossini’s comic opera Il Barbiere di Siviglia. This new role will allow him to showcase the dramatic range of his talent. Anatoly has been with the Krasnoyarsk company since 2023.
Also making his debut in Lakmé is Kirill Pankevich, who will appear in two roles – the loyal servant Hadji and the Chinese Merchant at the market. Kirill studied at the college affiliated with the Hvorostovsky Siberian Institute of Arts and is currently pursuing his opera studies at the Institute under the guidance of Davit Yesayan.
On May 22, Nikita Gusmanov will debut as the actor Robinson in Daniil Frenkel’s opera Without a Dowry. While studying at the Siberian Institute of Arts, Nikita sang as a soloist with the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Choir. He joined the opera company in August 2024.
