The Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre turns 46 years old

On December 20 and 21, The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is going to celebrate its 46th anniversary. These days, our theatre will traditionally present Alexander Borodin's opera Prince Igor and many spectacular locations.

The reason why the opera Prince Igor is staged at the Krasnoyarsk Theatre every year is that this opera opened the Theatre on December 20, 1978. In 2024, many Krasnoyarsk favourite opera soloists will take the stage in this large-scale production: Pavel Antsiferov, Svetlana Ratslav-Levchuk, Valentin Kolesnikov, Daria Ryabinko, Davit Yesayan, and others. Soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre Ksenia Dudnikova will sing the part of Konchakovna on December 21. Our young soloists will also make their debuts on that day: soprano singer Aliona Zafran will perform the part of Yaroslavna, and bass singer Vladimir Lebedev will sing the part of her brother Prince Galitsky for the first time.

Spectators should come earlier to see all the surprises we have in store for them. Guests will have the opportunity to see a large exhibition of stage costumes having an interesting history and animated retro photos, as well as to sign and send a real postcard to their beloved ones.

“The citizens have no idea how many unique photos and other things are stored in the Theatre’s archives, so this year we decided to literally revive the memory, to show our treasures,” says Svetlana Guziy, Chief Executive of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. “Vivid costumes of a rich history will once again shine under the spotlight, despite the years that have passed. Approximately fifty photos of various years including those with Dmitri Alexandrovich Hvorostovsky will literally come to life and start to move: they were animated using modern artificial intelligence technologies. During the holidays, you can buy our theatrical retro postcard in the foyer, write your kind words to your beloved ones on the postcard, sign it, stick postage stamps on it, and drop it in a special box. The very next day, the postcards will fly all over the country to their recipients.”

The whole city will celebrate the birthday of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. Congratulations and fragments of world ballet and opera masterpieces will be heard in places where city residents take walks: in urban parks and eco-parks, on skating rinks, at the airport and, of course, on the Theatrical Square.
