"All genres except the boring ones!" - this is the motto of the State Academic Classical Ballet Theatre of Natalia Kasatkina and Vladimir Vasiliov, which is known throughout the world as the Moscow Classical Ballet. The basis of the Theatre's repertoire is formed by the productions by Kasatkina and Vasiliov who are ballet soloists and choreographers The earliest ones were first staged at the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatre. On September 29, Krasnoyarsk residents are invited to the melodrama ballet The Lady of the Camellias. This is an enthralling and touching love story of a courtesan and a high society young gentleman and told in the language of dance to the music from the opera La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi. The production was given back the name of its literary source – the novel by Alexandre Dumas.
On September 30, one of the most cheerful ballets in the world of dance art - Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus - will be presented to the Krasnoyarsk ballet fans. In this production, the choreographers Natalia Kasatkina and Vladimir Vasiliov added new grotesque characters and witty staging solutions to vigorous dances, bright dresses, and sonorous castanets. This version of the ballet comprises not only the choreography by the founders of the theatre but also the one by the legendary Marius Petipa and Alexander Gorsky: the story is told through a cascade of spectacular ballet pieces with incredibly complex jumps and fantastic fouettes.
On October 1, the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will host a legendary production by Kasatkina and Vasiliov: the ballet Creation of the World that premiered at the Mariinsky Theatre in 1971. The mix of classical ballet with free plastique of the Creation of the World owes much to the music score. The great melodist Andrei Petrov known mostly as a film soundtracks composer had combined academic music with jazz and rock elements. Natalia Kasatkina and Vladimir Vasiliov staged a production that unites the amazing beauty and lyricism of a scene with comic pantomimes. But at the same time, the Creation of the World remains a subtle story of growing up and entering the world where real trials await yesterday's children.
Productions of Kasatkina and Vasiliov are universally recognized classics of ballet art. The Krasnoyarsk audience has the unique opportunity to see these ballets.
