The Novaya Opera principal singer Mikhail Gubsky to sing in Madama Butterfly performance

On March 6, the guest soloist, Honoured Artist of Russia Mikhail Gubsky will perform in Madama Butterfly opera by Puccini. Performing the part of Officer Pinkerton, he’ll replace the soloist of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera House Alexander Murashov.

Mikhail Gubsky is well known to Krasnoyarsk opera amateurs. Many a time he took the stage of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre in the leading tenor parts - Radamès in Verdi's Aida, Vaudémont in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Nemorino in Donizetti’s L'Elisir d'Amore, Sadko in the eponymous opera by Rimsky-Korsakov, and others.

Mikhail took part in the international festival Stars Parade at the Opera at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, the 4th Krasnoyarsk International Music Festival of the Asia-Pacific region (APFest).

Mikhail Gubsky will perform the young American lieutenant Pinkerton on the Krasnoyarsk stage for the first time, although he has already sung the role in the Novaya Opera and the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia. He performs not only in these Moscow theatres, but also he tours extensively in Russia participating in various opera productions and concert programmes. His repertoire comprises several dozens of parts in operas by Russian and European composers.

He collaborated with the world-class conductors: Mikhail Pletnev, Yevgeny Kolobov, Mark Ermler, Fuat Mansurov, Vladimir Spivakov, James Conlon, Kent Nagano, Alexander Vedernikov, and many others. On March 6, an Italian guest, conductor Lorenzo Bizzarri will conduct Madama Butterfly in Krasnoyarsk. This performance of the Giacomo Puccini’s opera is a part of the Bel Canto in Siberia festival.
