The Novaya Opera’s principal singer Yaroslav Abaimov to take part in the Night at the Museum show

The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre is going to introduce the Pyotr Pospelov’s one-act opera Night at the Museum or the Testament of the Master to the audience on February 14 and 16. The leading tenor of the Novaya Opera Theatre, laureate of international competitions Yaroslav Abaimov is in the cast of the show.

Its creators define the Night at the Museum as the opera for four singers and a pianoforte based on Mozart's sonatas. Pianoforte is an instrument that preceded the piano - musicians used it in Mozart’s times. Mozart composed his sonatas, small simple works for this instrument. In the 21st century, they were rediscovered and reinvented and combined into a more complex opera mixture with vocals and piano accompaniment. There are only four characters in the opera; Yaroslav Abaimov will play the part of the museum director.

Yaroslav considers his work on the opera very interesting, but complicated.

“The music is surely familiar because we all studied at music schools, played Mozart's sonatas on the piano, or at least heard them. But when they are used to create an opera, serious difficulties arise because they were written as instrumental music - Mozart didn’t ever expect them to be sung to. Our task is to make all these vocal parts sound as natural, free and relaxed as possible”, Yaroslav Abaimov commented on the rehearsal process which is in full swing now.

We’d like to remind you that the performance is a part of the Art at the Quadrat project and will take place in the Quadrat loft (Krasnoy Armiyi Street, 10, building 4).
