The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre presents a cycle of educational concerts The Orchestra Formula. The audience will be able to get to know the soloists of the theatre orchestra at the concerts. The author of the project is conductor Ivan Velikanov.
“Spectators of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, like any other music theatre, traditionally do not see the orchestra musicians because the musicians take their place in the orchestra pit. The purpose of the new cycle of concerts is to "lift" the musicians out of the pit, to acquaint the audience with talented soloists who certainly deserve recognition. The concerts will take place not on the stage but in a less pretentious atmosphere of the theatre foyer. The soloists of the opera company will also take part in them.” Ivan Velikanov explained his plan.
At the concert on October 17, the chamber instrumentation and soloists will perform Baroque music for violin, cello, flute, baroque guitar, and harpsichord. They’ll perform works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Arcangelo Corelli, Karl Dittersdorf, and other composers of the 17th-18th centuries.
The orchestra concertmaster, violinist Dmitri Kosolapov, former soloist of the State Academic Chamber Orchestra of Russia, laureate of the international competitions Academy, Romanticism: Origins and Horizons, will create the concert programme, he’ll be the host and conductor of the first concert of the cycle. Dmitri will perform a concert for violin and orchestra "Autumn" from the cycle The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi. Dmitri Kosolapov is already known to Krasnoyarsk fans of baroque music: at the Christmas of Old Europe concert in December last year, he performed an excerpt from Vivaldi's Four Seasons as a guest soloist.
“The ambition that guided me in preparing the concert was that the spectators should not get bored. I tried to diversify the program as much as possible in order that it would be interesting not only to listen to it but also to watch it and talk about it. Besides, we will present both popular music and music that’ll be new for the audience at our concert. Antonio Vivaldi is now probably one of the most famous composers in the world. We’ll perform three of his works: an overture to the opera L'Olimpiade, a cello concert, and a violin concert "Autumn". And a piece by Adam Falckenhagen, a little known German composer of the 18th century, will open the concert. It’ll be quite interesting for Krasnoyarsk fans of the Baroque era to get acquainted with his work.” said Dmitri Kosolapov.
We add that the second concert of The Orchestra Formula will take place on October 31, the third one - on December 18, 2021. In total, the soloists of the orchestra and opera company will present seven concerts of the cycle to music fans during the season.
