The second concert of the project Harp Invites to be dedicated to the music of Italy

The second event of the concert cycle Harp Invites will take place in the foyer of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre on December 15. The concert is dedicated to the music of Italy and is named All Roads Lead to Rome.

As music director of the concert, concertmaster of the harp group of the Theatre’s orchestra Kira Lagozinskaya says, the programme of the concert combines the works of Italian composers of various times and styles.

“Vincenzo Bellini is an outstanding master of bel canto, whose music was loved by Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Chopin, Liszt... Many works of other composers were based on his operas. At our concert, you will hear melodies from Norma and I Capuleti e i Montecchi arranged for harp. Gioachino Rossini is "the sun of Italy"! We immediately recognize the brilliant, cheerful Rossini’s style in the pieces from Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Representatives of the contemporary Italian school of composition Luigi Tedeschi and Michele Mangani will enchant and captivate you into the world of Italian melodies, which cannot be confused with the ones from any other country”, said Kira Lagozinskaya.

Along with Kira Lagozinskaya, soloists of the opera company Anna Avakyan and Kirill Pankevich, as well as musicians Svetlana Khrushkova (cello), Daria Kaysina (clarinet), Natalia Sobinkova (piano) will take the stage. The concert will conclude with a piece by Antonio Pasculli, a composer and virtuoso oboist who created many instrumental transcriptions of melodies from Italian operas. In Dedication to Bellini for two distinctive instruments that rarely perform as a duet – the English horn (Polina Sablina) and the harp (Kira Lagozinskaya) – Pasculli used themes from Bellini’s operas Il Pirata and La Sonnambula.
