The programme of the international festival Stars of Baikal includes a performance by the choir of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. The team led by the Theatre's chief choirmaster Dmitri Khodosh will perform the Sergei Rachmaninov's one-act opera Aleko.
The prestigious music festival will be held for the 28th time in Irkutsk from 5 to 14 September 2023. The one-act opera Aleko will be performed in the first part of the concert on September 9. Dmitri Yurovsky will take the conductor's stand. Vocalists of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Sofia Bachaeva (Zemfira), Guri Guryev (Aleko), Vladimir Kuchin (Young Gypsy Man), Svetlana Tokareva (Old Gypsy Woman), and soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre Alexei Tikhomirov (Zemfira’s Father) will come to the stage as soloists.
In the second part of this concert, spectators will hear the rarely performed Poem of Fire Prometheus by Alexander Scriabin performed by the pianist, People's Artist of Russia Denis Matsuev. He is Artistic Director of the festival and traditionally invites real stars to participate in it. Thus, such virtuosos as Vadim Repin and Pavel Milyukov (violin), Alexander Ramm (cello) will present their art in Irkutsk along with the Krasnoyarsk artists.
