Theatregoers still have a chance to save Eurydice

The interactive production based on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice is making a comeback. The thrilling quest to rescue Orpheus’s beloved, which was cancelled last year due to the events at Moscow’s Crocus Hall, will take place on March 22 as part of Theatre Night 2025.

The plot and musical basis for the bright and funny (but laced with horror!) event named Saving Eurydice will be based on two famous works: Christoph Willibald Gluck’s opera Orpheus and Eurydice and Jacques Offenbach’s operetta Orphée aux Enfers (Orpheus in the Underworld). This “mixture” is directed by Daniil Dmitriev. According to his words, the show promises an unforgettable journey through operatic “heaven” and “hell”.

The adventure begins in the heater’s main foyer, where Orpheus will pour his heart out to the audience. Just when all seems lost, he — and the spectators — will learn that Eurydice can still be saved. But to do so they must descend into the realm of Hades. From there, the audience will embark on an immersive journey through various themed locations across the foyers on all the floors of the Theatre., encountering eerie and enchanting spectacles along the way. They’ll hear the haunting voices of the Furies, converse with spirits, apply infernal makeup, witness the scenes of dramatic operatic murders, test their wits in an underworld quiz of Charon, the guide to the afterlife, and even win some devilishly fun prizes.

And then — straight to hell. What happens in the underworld remains a mystery reserved for those who dare to experience Theatre Night at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. The night will culminate in a spectacular finale: the legendary, high-energy can-can from the operetta Orphée aux Enfers.
