Tickets now on sale for Wuthering Heights

Tickets are now available for a special guest performance by the Sevastopol State Opera and Ballet Theatre — the ballet Wuthering Heights inspired by the celebrated novel by Emily Brontë.

Though a recent production, it has already made a strong impression. The premiere took place in summer 2024 in Sevastopol at the 8th International Opera and Ballet Festival Chersonesos International Opera and Ballet Festival. In 2025, the ballet was presented in Moscow at the New Stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. The production is currently nominated for Russia’s National Theatre Award, the Golden Mask, in the Contemporary Ballet category.

The creative team behind the production is international. Choreographer John Paul Cook, a graduate of the Royal Ballet School and former principal dancer with the Bavarian State Opera, leads the staging. The set design is by Lilia Khismatullina, a finalist of the ArtMasters 2020 programme. The score has been compiled and arranged by renowned Russian composer and Moscow Conservatory faculty member Tatyana Shatkovskaya. The Moscow Youth Chamber Orchestra will be conducted by Artiom Abashev, a guest conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre.

The ballet closely follows the novel’s storyline. It tells the story of two neighboring families living amid the Yorkshire moors, centering on the orphan Heathcliff taken into one household, and his intense and destructive relationship with Cathy Earnshaw. From childhood resentment grows a passion that can find no peaceful resolution.

The Sevastopol State Opera and Ballet Theatre’s tour takes place as part of the federal Bolshie Gastroli (“Major Tours”) programme, organized by ROSCONCERT under the Russian Touring and Concert Plan of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
