Winning the competitions in November 2020

The pandemic and bad conditions for rehearsals did not interfere with the creative achievements of the artists of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre early in November 2020.

The ballet company’s principal dancers Elena Svinko and Georgy Bolsunovsky won the 1st Prize at the Russian Ballet Dancers and Choreographers Competition. It  is being held at the Natalya Sats Moscow State Academic Children’s Music Theatre in Moscow between November 7 and 12. The principal dancer of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Marcello Pelizzoni received the special award For Partnership. People's Artist of Russia Alexander Kuimov and Honoured Artist of Russia Vera Surovtseva received the special award “For the successful training of a participant of the competition”.

The Russian Ballet Dancers and Choreographers Competition is the brainchild of Yuri Grigorovich; the legendary ballet master is the artistic director of the event. The competition has been running since 2013 in cycles of 4 years. The event in 2020 is dedicated to classical dance. The competition programme consisted of three rounds, one of them in absentia (the contestants submitted video recordings). Elena Svinko and Georgy Bolsunovsky performed the Carnival of Venice pas de deux from the ballet Le Diable Amoureux by Reber and Benoist, the piece Criss Cross Dance (choreography by Olesya Aldonina and Demid Zykov), and the pas de deux from the Glazunov's ballet Raymonda. On November 12, all the awardees take part in a gala concert. It’ll be broadcasted live on the site Культура.рф at 19:30 Moscow time.

The results of the 4th Georg Ots International Music Festival-Competition that took place in St. Petersburg are also encouraging. Baritone Sevastian Martyniuk won the special Georg Ots award. The soloist of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre performed Onegin's arioso from Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and Riccardo's arias from Bellini's I Puritani.

It’s worth reminding that on the 10th of November, the Francis Poulenc’s opera Les Mamelles de Tirésias staged by Sergei Bobrov and its creative team won the special jury award at the Golden Mask Festival “For a new look at the opera genre in a new theatrical space”.

Let’s congratulate the winners!
