Ballet dancers of the Krasnoyarsk Opera House to take part in the Masters of Dance concert

Ballet dancers of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre are gearing up for the gala concert Masters of Dance. This event will take place in the Big Concert Hall on April 29, International Dance Day. It’ll be held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region.

The concert programme includes a plastique dance version of Mikhail Glinka's overture to the opera Ruslan and Lyudmila staged by the Artistic Director of the Opera and Ballet Theatre, Honoured Artist Sergei Bobrov.  The principal dancers Anastasia Belonogova, Natalia Bobrova, Honoured Artist of Russia Yekaterina Bulgutova, Elena Svinko, Georgy Bolsunovsky, Marcello Pelizzoni, Yegor Osokin, Fyodor Piskarev will perform it.

The celebration of International Dance Day on April 29 was proposed by the teacher and choreographer Pyotr Gusev in memory of the French choreographer, theorist and reformer of ballet Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), who went down in history as the “father of modern ballet”. April 29 is Noverre's birthday.

As conceived by the organizers, the Masters of Dance project establishes a new tradition in the cultural life of the Krasnoyarsk Region: the annual gathering of dance groups of various styles and trends at one venue to present their skills to the audience on this date.

The organizers believe that International Dance Day is to become an occasion to celebrate this art form, its ability to overcome all political, cultural and ethnic boundaries, to unite people in the name of friendship and peace allowing them to speak the same language - the language of dance.
