May 2021: spring bloom of debuts

Principal dancers and singers of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre are constantly working on roles, but such a significant number of debuts as in May 2021 isn’t a frequent event.

For example, the role of Alfredo in Giuseppe Verdi's opera La Traviata will be the debut for both performers: On May 14 and 16, Valentin Kolesnikov will perform the leading male part of this opera for the first time in Krasnoyarsk, on May 15 - Davit Esayan. Edward Arutyunyan will play the role of Gastone for the first time on May 15.

The ballet opera Carmen to Georges Bizet’s music will be presented by the Krasnoyarsk Opera Ballet Theatre four times in May, and this is a golden opportunity for many artists.

All four shows will present new versions of dancing Carmen performed by Elena Svinko (May 20), Natalia Bobrova (May 21), Anna Fedosova (May 22), Anastasia Osokina (May 23). The following dancers will also debut in the dance part of Carmen: Marcello Pelizzoni as José and Yuri Kudriavtsev as Toreador on May 20, Elena Mikheecheva as Micaëla on May 21, Natalia Bobrova as Mercédès and Georgy Botenkov as Zuniga on May 22.

The opera company also has several debuts in Carmen. On May 22, Yekaterina Kochetova will make her debut in the title role; Vasily Korsar will be her partner José. Zoya Rzheplyanskaya will sing the part of Micaëla for the first time (May 20); Roman Khobta (May 20) and Honoured Artist of Russia Oleg Alekseev (May 21) will appear on the stage as Escamillo for the first time.
