The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre has invited an experienced professional, skilled and attentive teacher - Honoured Artist of Russia, leading soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre, Associate Professor of the Department of Choreography of the GITIS (Russian Institute of Theatre Arts) Elena Andrienko.
Elena came to Krasnoyarsk as a ballet tutor: she works with the ballet company dancers in the classes and also acts as a tutor for Adolphe Adam’s ballet Giselle adding new colours to it. Besides, she held a master class for students of the Krasnoyarsk Choreography College.
Why is the opinion of invited teachers important for ballet dancers?
“It’s not my first visit to Krasnoyarsk. I was Sergei Bobrov's assistant at the premiere of his production of the ballet Swan Lake, I restored La Bayadère by Minkus, and worked with the company of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. I taught the tricks of the trade to many young artists - now they are ballet stars. The time of a ballet dancer flies quickly, our career doesn’t last long, and we must use these 20 years as intensively as possible to make our contribution to our magnificent profession. The company has been renewed, there are a lot of talented young men and women here; it's nice that their skills are utilized on a high professional level. But when teachers get used to their regular team, something important can escape their attention. That is why master classes from guest specialists are so important. This helps to look at the process of preparing an artist with a fresh pair of eyes,” Elena Andrienko explained.
