Boris Sabirov’s Gala Night to take place in the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre

On October 12, Boris Sabirov is going to hold his Gala Night at the Krasnoyarsk Opera House. The artist has been working in the theatre for 20 years.

At his concert, the singer will take the stage as Sadko of the eponymous opera Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.

“Sadko is my favourite Russian opera. I rarely ask for some roles, I’m ready to sing everything that is offered in the theatre. But in this case, I must admit, I myself wanted to perform Sadko. I do like this character: a strong personality who found the strength to defy the established convention of Veliky Novgorod, he unveiled the trade with other countries to its citizens”, the artist explains his choice. - “My Sadko is moderately tough but at the same time a man of an open disposition, a gullible one. And the plot of the opera is enthralling, there is interesting stuff to perform. For example, a trip to the Underwater Kingdom where Sadko finds his Volkhova and returns with her to the human realm - this is the story of Orpheus who goes down to the underworld to retrieve Eurydice. Also, many artists are involved in the performance: I’ll be pleased that they’ll come on stage along with me at my Gala Night concert”.

Boris Sabirov graduated from the Krasnoyarsk Academy of Music and Theatre in 2007; he has been working at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre since 1999. He began his career as a singer of a choir. He currently is a principal singer of our theatre.

The singer’s repertoire includes about 40 parts in the operas of Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, and various children's performances, as well as Italian songs, romances, Russian folk songs, and works by Soviet songwriters.
