Daniil Dmitriev directed the Cantata festival

Director of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Daniil Dmitriev was director of the 2nd International Festival of Classical Music Cantata. From June 1 to 6, this beautiful music event took place in Kaliningrad and the Kaliningrad Region.

The Cantata festival comprised six concerts under the direction of opera and concert singer, actress, and teacher Lyubov Kazarnovskaya. They were conducted by Ivan Rudin, Fabio Mastrangelo, Alan Cook. The concerts were held in the most picturesque and historically significant places of the Kaliningrad Region; the participants are more than 20 famous music teams and performers from Russia and abroad.

Works by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Mozart, Schubert, concerts by the Kaliningrad Regional Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments, the Night of German Chamber Music capRICchio, a gala night of opera stars were performed at the Ragnit Castle, Fort Dönhoff, St. Jacob’s Church, the Amber Museum (Dohna Tower) , the famous Königsberg Cathedral on Kant Island in Kaliningrad.

“As the director of the festival, I worked on the visual design, scripts, staging of events: the concert Sergei Diaghilev - Peter the First in Russian Art (conducted by Lyubov Kazarnovskaya), a gala concert of opera stars, in which we invited the two-time beat boxing champion of Russia Taras Stanin, the diptych Francesca da Rimini based on two eponymous works - Tchaikovsky's symphonic poem and Rachmaninov's one-act opera. The events of the festival took place in picturesque dilapidated architectural objects: the Cantata project is charitable and intended to help the restoring of monuments,” Daniil Dmitriev said.
