15.04.2025 Finale of the 47th season at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre: all touring performances
This May and June, before the end of its 47th season, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will host several outstanding visiting companies from across Russia.
May 17–18
The season’s finale begins with a music and literary performance titled Nostalgia for the Real Thing, a collaborative production with a creative team from Saint Petersburg.
May 28 – June 8
The Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will present five productions and a gala concert:
- May 28, 29, 30 – The Little Humpbacked Horse, Rodion Shchedrin’s ballet based on Pyotr Yershov’s classic fairy tale in verse.
- May 31 & June 1 – Phaedra. The Firebird, the contemporary choreography night: Phaedra by Philip Glass (inspired by Euripides’ tragedy Hippolytus) and The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky (based on Russian folk legends).
- June 3–4 – Don Pasquale, Gaetano Donizetti’s comic bel canto opera about an old miser’s ill-fated plan to marry.
- June 5–6 – Pagliacci, Ruggero Leoncavallo’s operatic criminal drama exploring the blurred lines between art and life.
- June 7 – Iolanta, Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s lyrical fairy tale opera about a blind princess whose sight is restored through love.
- June 8 – A gala concert by the Mariinsky’s opera soloists concluding their Krasnoyarsk tour.
June 10–13
The Buryat State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre will present two ballets:
- June 10, 11 – The Land of Faith – Bargudzhin Tokum, a production commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Buryatia. The ballet takes audiences into the world of ancient myths, telling the love story of Tumen and Asuykhan—souls drawn together across time and space in an eternal struggle between light and darkness.
- June 12, 13 – The Beauty Angara, a ballet rooted in Buryat legend, recounting the tale of Angara, daughter of the warrior Baikal, who defies kismet for the love of Yenisei.
June 21–23
The Natalia Sats Children’s Music Theatre will showcase three productions:
- June 21 – The Wizard of the Emerald City, a two-act musical by Igor Yakushenko inspired by Frank Baum’s beloved story.
- June 22 – Thumbelina, a musical fairy tale for children based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic.
- June 23 – Lord of the Flies, a dramatic stage adaptation of the philosophical novel by William Golding.
