On April 12, Pyotr Tchaikovsky's opera The Queen of Spades will be graced by the invited vocalists: the soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre, People's Artist of Russia Irina Dolzhenko (mezzo-soprano), the soloist of the the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre Irina Vashchenko (soprano), and the soloist of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Alexei Zelenkov (baritone).
Irina Dolzhenko will perform the part of the Countess that requires not only vocal but also acting skills. On the Krasnoyarsk stage, Irina Gennadievna has already performed this role during the festival Stars Parade at the Opera. Krasnoyarsk opera fans also rewarded her with thunderous applause for her performing Carmen (Carmen by Bizet), Amneris and Azucena in the Verdi’s operas Aida and Il Trovatore respectively, Spring Beauty and Lyubasha in The Snow Maiden and The Tsar's Bride by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. She has been a soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia since 1996. From 2013 to 2016, Irina Dolzhenko was Artistic Director of the opera company of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre; later, she was Artistic Director of opera festivals and touring opera projects of the Theatre.
The leading female part in The Queen of Spades - the part of Lisa - will be performed by Irina Vashchenko. Since 2000, Irina has been a soloist of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre; as a guest vocalist, she has collaborated with the Mariinsky Theatre and theatrical venues in Europe. Her repertoire includes leading soprano parts in operas by Glinka, Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Verdi, Puccini, Offenbach, and many others. She performed the role of Gertrude in the world premiere of Vladimir Kobekin's opera Hamlet (Danish) (Russian) Comedy. Irina took part in tours of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre in the USA, South Korea, Estonia, Latvia, Israel, Greece, and the Netherlands.
Alexei Zelenkov will perform the part of Tomsky in The Queen of Spades. This role helped the singer win the Onegin National Opera Prize in 2017. Zelenkov graduated from the Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatory (the class of D.A. Suslov) in 2015. He joined the company of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre a year earlier. Over the years, he has performed more than 20 leading baritone parts in operas by Rossini, Verdi, Wagner, Puccini, Bizet, Tchaikovsky, Borodin, Rachmaninov.
