La Fille Mal Gardée to be performed at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre again

After a long break, the Peter Ludwig Hertel’s ballet La Fille Mal Gardée is back to the repertoire plan of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. It has been two years since the ballet was shown on the stage of the Hvorostovsky Opera House for the last time; the audience will have the opportunity to see it again on February 26, 2020.

The German composer and conductor Peter Hertel wrote the music for La Fille Mal Gardée to the libretto of Jean Dauberval in 1864. A blithe and bright ballet with melodic music, a funny love affair and a happy ending first appeared on the Krasnoyarsk stage in 2011. Honoured Artist of Russia Mark Peretokin adapted the choreography of Jean Dauberval and Alexander Gorsky for this production.

“Now the tutors and artists are working on reviving the show: the theatre’s team has a lot of work to do”, commented the head of the ballet company Natalia Matus-Marchuk.

On February 26, Natalia Bobrova, the theatre’s principal dancer, will take the stage as charming Lise.

The young male artist Fiodor Piskarev will debut as the main male character - a happy lover, a young peasant Colas. In 2017, he graduated from the Krasnoyarsk Choreographic College and he was accepted into the ballet company of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre; he danced various principal parts during these years. The winner of international competitions Ilia Haprov is going to dance the part of Alain - the unlucky rival of Colas - for the first time. Ilia has been dancing in the ballet company since 2016.
