The 47th season of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is drawing to a close. Yet the company’s artists continue to delight audiences with fresh debuts in both opera and ballet.
In the romantic ballet La Sylphide by Herman Severin Løvenskiold, the role of James will be performed for the first time by two different dancers: Oleksii Skaliun will make his debut on June 21, followed by Ruslan Abolmasov on June 22. The same night, Nadezhda Vagal will also debut as one of the quartet of Sylphs.
The final opera of the 47th season will be Yermak, a large-scale historical production by Alexander Tchaikovsky. In the June 26 performance, Yuri Zabolotnov will make his debut in the role of the writer Leo Tolstoy.
The season will officially conclude with two performances of Aram Khachaturian’s ballet Spartacus on June 27 and 28.
