The 10th National Opera Award Onegin has closed its call for entries. The long list includes 54 productions from 28 theatres across Russia — from Yakutia to Kislovodsk. Among them are 14 nominations for the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The Krasnoyarsk opera company will be competing for the Onegin award in the following categories:
Debut (Women): Viktoria Maslyukova (Liù in Turandot by Giacomo Puccini);
Debut (Men): Yuri Zabolotnov (Boris in To Love in Wartime by Alexander Tchaikovsky), Andrey Kolobov (Mikhail in To Love in Wartime);
Best Female Role: Anna Kharitonova (Death in To Love in Wartime), Daria Ryabinko (Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Gioachino Rossini), Anna Avakyan (Liù in Turandot);
Best Male Role: Denis Grechishkin (Boris in To Love in Wartime), Anatoly Badaev (Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Mergen Sandanov (Calaf in Turandot);
Guest Performance: Nurgalym Amanbai from the Abay Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Almaty (Mikhail in To Love in Wartime), Aliona Diyanova from the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre (Turandot in Turandot), Davit Yesayan from the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre (Samson in Samson et Dalila by Camille Saint-Saëns);
Supporting Role: Aliona Babivskaya (Matryona in To Love in Wartime);
Event of the Year: Alexander Tchaikovsky’s opera To Love in Wartime.
The Expert Council of the Award, chaired by Honoured Artist of Russia Vyacheslav Starodubtsev, will announce the shortlist in October. The awards ceremony itself will take place in St. Petersburg on 29 November for the tenth time — once again on the historic stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.
