Mergen Sandanov to sing at the Bolshoi Theatre

The principal singer of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, Honoured Artist of Buryatia Mergen Sandanov will sing on the New Stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia on September 22. The artist will perform the part of Radames in Giuseppe Verdi's opera Aida.

The show will be held within the tour of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in Moscow; Mergen Sandanov will take part in it as a guest soloist.

“This will be my debut on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. Singing here is extremely responsible, but I don't feel much anxiety. I have performed the role of Radames many times, and I know this music material and the opera pretty well. And now, I'm putting in considerable efforts working on Bellini's opera Norma, which will premiere at the Krasnoyarsk Opera House very soon - on September 19; I need some time to learn this difficult part. So there's no time to worry," explained Mergen Sandanov.

According to Irina Lychagina, Principal Director and Artistic Director of the opera company of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, the high level of skills of the Krasnoyarsk soloists makes them in demand to perform at the leading opera venues.

In Krasnoyarsk, Mergan Sandanov will take the stage at the premiere of the concert performance of Vincenzo Bellini's opera Norma on September 19: he’ll sing the leading male role – Roman proconsul Pollione - on the day of the opening of the 47th season; as well as in the landmark premiere of the previous season - Modest Mussorgsky's opera Boris Godunov (he’ll perform the part of Grishka Otrepiev) on October 8.

Tickets for Norma and Boris Godunov can be purchased at the Theatre’s box office (open from 10 a.m. till 8 p.m.; phone: 226-86-97), on the Krasopera.ru website, and on the sites of the ticket operators (24 hours daily).
