Principal dancer of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Olesya Aldonina won of the first prize of the Russian Competition of Ballet Dancers and Choreographers held between 13 and 18 September in Yaroslavl.
At the competition, Olesya presented three choreographic pieces - Envy to the music of Dmitry Shostakovich, The Tale to the music of Anatoly Lyadov and Pride (Polish lullaby). She came up with the ideas and choreographic content of the miniatures herself, and the soloist of the Krasnoyarsk Opera House Demid Zykov helped her stage pieces.
The competition of ballet dancers and choreographers has been held in Moscow since 1965. It discovered plenty of outstanding performers and directors. In the current format, the competition has been held since 2013. Its initiator is the legendary Soviet choreographer Yuri Grigorovich. The competition is held annually in various choreographic categories with a four-year cycle.
The theme of the year 2019 is Contemporary Dance in a Musical Theatre. All the participants were divided into two sections: 1 - soloists and duets, 2 - ensembles (trios, quartets) of two age groups: the younger ones - between 16 and 19 years old, and the older ones - between 19 and 35 years old. Olesya's rivals were 16 talented performers from 12 cities of Russia.
The choreographic talent of the Krasnoyarsk participant did not go unnoticed: Olesya Aldonina was awarded a special prize For the Best Choreography of Pieces Staged Especially for the Competition.
“Of course, I feel great joy and pride in this result. Although it’ll be possible for me to fully enjoy the victorious feeling a little later when the accumulated fatigue is reduced, because participation in such an event is challenging and versatile work,” Oles Aldonina shared her impressions.
