Soloists of three theatres to perform at the gala concert of the Hvorostovsky Arts Festival

The audience will see a parade of Russian young opera stars within the Hvorostovsky Arts Festival on October 30. Soloists of three theatres will come to the stage: the Bolshoi, Mariinsky Theatre, and Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre.

The concert programme comprises music masterpieces of various eras, countries, and composers: vocal and orchestral fragments from Russian, Italian, French, and German operas will be performed.

Among them, there are works by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov: Levko's first song from the opera May Night, Marfa's aria from The Tsar's Bride, Lel's third song from The Snow Maiden to be performed by the soloists of the Krasnoyarsk Opera House (Davit Yesayan and Violetta Grishko) and Mariinsky Theatre (Daria Riabokon). It also includes genuine opera hits from the legacy of Pyotr Tchaikovsky: Duke Robert's aria from the opera Iolanta, Tomsky's ballad from The Queen of Spades, Eugene Onegin's arioso from the eponymous opera to be performed by the Krasnoyarsk baritones Yuri Zabolotnov and Sevastian Martyniuk.

The following well known works will also be performed at the concert: Leporello's aria from Mozart's Don Giovanni (to be performed by the Mariinsky Theatre soloist Stepan Zavalishin), Konchakovna's Cavatina from Prince Igor (Daria Tereshchenko from the Mariinsky Theatre), Nemorino's romance song from L'Elisir d'Amore (Klim Tikhonov from the Mariinsky Theatre), and the Duke's song from Rigoletto (Mark Kim from the Bolshoi Theatre). But the audience will also hear lesser-known opera masterpieces that are rarely performed in Krasnoyarsk: the Duet of Nadir and Zurga from Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles (to be performed by Ilya Legatov and Maxim Lisiin from the Bolshoi Theatre), Francesca’s aria from Rachmaninoff’s Francesca da Rimini (Anna Avakyan from the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre), the aria of Princess de Bouillon from Francesco Cilea’s opera Adriana Lecouvreur (Daria Tereshchenko), and others.

A significant part of the concert is dedicated to the work of the bel canto master Gioachino Rossini. The popular overture to the opera La Gazza Ladra performed by the orchestra conducted by the Bolshoi Theatre conductor Alexey Vereshchagin will open the second part of the concert. Daria Belousova will perform Tancredi’s aria from the eponymous opera. Ramiro's aria from the opera Cinderella will be performed by Klim Tikhonov. The concert will end with the final scene of the opera Guillaume Tell performed by all the participants of the concert.

The famous Cavatina of Figaro from the opera Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Maxim Lisiin from the Bolshoi Theatre), which was brilliantly sung on the world opera stages by Dmitri Hvorostovsky, and Don Basilio's aria La Calunnia (Daniil Akimov) will be the highlights of the concert. We remind you that the premiere performances of the opera Il Barbiere di Siviglia directed by Dmitri Yurovsky and Irina Lychagina will take place on the stage of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre on November 9 and 10.

The Krasnoyarsk Hvorostovsky Arts Festival dedicated to the legendary opera singer Dmitri Alexandrovich Hvorostovsky will be held in the birthtown of the world famous baritone singer between October 16 and November 2, 2024.

The Festival organizer is the Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic Society supported by the government of the Krasnoyarsk Region. The partners are: The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre and Surikov Krasnoyarsk State Art Museum.
