The leading parts in Spartacus will be performed by dancers from Novosibirsk

In the third premiere show of the renewed version of Aram Khachaturian's ballet Spartacus on October 20, principal dancers of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Roman Polkovnikov (as Spartacus) and Honoured Artist of Russia Olga Grishenkova (as Phrygia) will take the stage of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Olga and Roman have a considerable experience in performing Phrygia and Spartacus: the artists have been dancing these parts choreographed by Yuri Grigorovich on the stage of the NOVAT (Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre) for many years. The antagonists of these characters - Crassus and Aegina - will be performed by principal dancers of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Yuri Kudriavtsev and Olesya Aldonina on October 20.

Roman Polkovnikov graduated from the Novosibirsk Choreography School; he has been a member of the NOVAT ballet company since 2005. There, he performed more than 20 parts including Siegfried, Rothbart (Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky), Basilio, toreador Espada (Don Quixote by Minkus), Solor, the Golden Idol (La Bayadère by
Minkus), Philip (The Flames of Paris by
Asafiev), Conrad, Ali (Le Corsaire by Adam), Romeo (Romeo and Juliet by Prokofiev), Albert (Giselle by Adam), Prince Désiré (Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky), Prince Orshad (The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky), Apollo (Apollon Musagète by Stravinsky, choreography by Balanchine), Six Soloists (Immortality in Love to the music by Glass, choreography by Edwaard Liang, world premiere), Don José, Escamillo (Carmen to the music by Bizet, choreography by Petit), the Ibeji Twins (The Rite of Spring by Stravinsky, choreography by De Bana, world premiere), Soloist (Dreams under Leaden Sky to the music by Bosso and Lang, choreography by Faska, world premiere), and many others.

He toured in South Korea, China, France, Thailand, Spain, Kazakhstan, Hungary, and the UK. Since 2015, he has been a guest soloist of the  Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre. Roman Polkovnikov won the gold medal of the 7th Youth Delphic Games of Russia in the nominated category Classical Dance.

Olga Grishenkova joined the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre in 2007 after she had graduated from the Novosibirsk Choreography School. Her repertoire includes the parts of Phrygia, Aegina (Spartacus by Khachaturian), Odette-Odile (Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky), Medora (Le Corsaire by Adam), Princess Aurora (The Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky, choreography by Duato), Nikiya, Gamzatti (La Bayadère by Minkus, choreography by Duato), Esmeralda (Notre Dame de Paris by Jarre, ballet by Petit), Lisa (La Fille Mal Gardée by Hérold, choreography by Ashton), Tsar Maiden (The Little Humpbacked Horse by Shchedrin), Carmen (Carmen Suite by Bizet - Shchedrin, choreography by Alonso), Anyuta (Anyuta by Gavrilin)​​, and many others.

She toured with the company in China, South Korea, Thailand, Hungary. Olga won the Kings of Fine Arts award (Novosibirsk, 2020), the Commonwealth of Independent States international prize Commonwealth of Debuts 2019 (Brest, Republic of Belarus).

Both artists are laureates of the theatrical award Paradise (Novosibirsk) for performing in the ballet La Bayadère by Minkus: Roman - in the category Best Male Role in a Ballet for the part of Solor, Olga - in the category Best Female Role in a Music Theatre for the part of Nikiya.
